Map credits

Where Visor's map data comes from, and the licences it is published under.

Visor's map is built from open data. The regions you download to the phone, and the map you see online, are the same data in the same look.

Base map

Roads, water, places, labels and boundaries come from OpenStreetMap, © OpenStreetMap contributors, published under the Open Database License (ODbL). The tiles are cut from the daily planet builds that Protomaps publishes; the map design is Protomaps' basemap theme, released under CC0. Fonts are Noto Sans (SIL Open Font License).

Terrain

The hillshade behind the Terrain toggle is built from Mapterhorn, © Mapterhorn, which derives from Copernicus GLO-30 and national elevation models.

Your own maps

A map you bring yourself (a scanned topo sheet, a tile archive you cut on a desktop) carries its own credits; Visor shows the attribution written into the file and adds nothing of its own. The file never leaves your phone.

Hosting

Map files are served from Visor's own storage. Nothing about which regions you hold, or where you ride, is sent anywhere to fetch them: a download is an ordinary file transfer, the same for everyone.
